Stephen Sondheim's poignant musical comedy takes a look at the toxic effect of success on a group of 3 life-long friends. Franklyn Sheppard, a one-time
composer of Broadway musicals, has become a highly successful film
producer. Somehow he has compromised his friendships with soulmates
Mary and Charlie on the way. Moving backwards through time, this witty and
touching piece, with its glorious musical score, examines how we can lose the
things once so dear to us.
