One of the most original and distinctive new stars on television, Jimmy was a recent guest presenter on the current series of Have I Got News For You. Also, as the face of comedy on Channel 4, Jimmy hosted the new prime time game show Distraction, and co-hosted both series of its hugely successful hit game show Your Face Or Mine. In 2003 Jimmy could also be seen presenting Channel 4's 100 Worst Pop Records, following his other appearances as host of 100 Worst Britons and 100 Scary Moments.
2003 was a remarkable year for Jimmy's live work. Following the Perrier nomination for his debut show Bare Faced Ambition at the Edinburgh Festival 2002 and a Time Out Award for Best Stand-Up, Jimmy returned to the Edinburgh Festival with his new show, Charm Offensive, where the entire months performances sold out by the second day of the festival. Its two week run at London's Soho Theatre was also a sell-out hit, and Jimmy received rave reviews for the show, including 5 star reviews from four major newspapers.
As sick as he is slick... and he's very sick indeed.
UK television guest appearances include Des O'Connor Comedy Tonight, Have I Got News For You, The Royal Variety Show and Peter Cook: A Posthumourous Tribute. And Jimmy is fast becoming a face on US TV, he has performed a remarkable three times within five months on NBC's Tonight With Jay Leno, and twice on NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien.
Jimmy can be heard on 104.9 XFM every Sunday morning where he presents the breakfast show from 10.00am to 12.00. He is also a regular guest and interviewer on Loose Ends on Radio 4 and The Fred McCauley Show on BBC Radio Scotland.
Jimmy is a prolific writer as well as performer, with writing credits including Bo Selecta! and Meet Ricky Gervais as well as writing for Lily Savage and Frank Skinner.
As would be expected of a comedian with a soaring international profile, Jimmy also performs at all the international comedy festivals, and was one of very few top British comedians selected to appear at the world's two top Comedy Festivals, in Montreal for the Just For Laughs Festival in July 2002 and 2003 and in Aspen at the International Comedy Arts Festival in February 2003. He is also is a regular guest at the prestigious Kilkenny Festival in Ireland.
Comedy genius... definitely get into this Carr, he's the Rolls Royce of comedy.
The brightest British comic hope for a long, long while... The most deliciously transgressive comic... He is not so much pushing out the boundaries as sailing in uncharted waters... Superb.
A masterclass in comedy... devastating, tasteless two-liners that are bliss to listen to... Carr's persona is irresistible, and his wisecracks have you quivering with satisfaction.
Fabulous... Carr is No. 1 on the Comedy Offenders' List.
His audacity is breathtaking.
